BERRI TXARRAK: DENBORA DA POLIGRAFO BAKARRA (3xCD/LP)

Osotara 20 abesti berri biltzen dituen disko hirukoitza, horixe BERRI TXARRAK-en egitasmo berria taldea sortu zenetik 20 urte betetzen direnean.

Halaxe da: 20. urteurrena ospatzeko zerbait berezia eskaintzeko gogoa piztu eta ‘Haria’ bira amaitu orduko kantu berriak lantzen hasi ginen. Sortze prozesu luzeari hasiera eman genion hala, ’20 urte 20 abesti’ leloa buruan iltzatuta.

Musika etengabeko bilaketa dela sinetsita, baina, bagenuen beste asmo bat: lan berriko abestiak hiru zatitan banatzea: hiru ekoizle arras ezberdinen eskutan jartzea, rocka ulertzeko hiru molde, hiru ikuspuntu (ia) kontrajarri, ez bada kantuaren alde egiten dutela denek.

Hala, 2014an zehar hiru grabaketa saio egin ditugu, guretzat bereziak diren beste hainbeste ekoizlerekin. Kronologikoki: Ross Robinson, Ricky Falkner eta Bill Stevenson.

 

#BTX20URTE01: ROSS ROBINSON @ Venice, Kalifornia-AEB (Martxoa-Apirila):

‘Haria’ (2011) diskoaren grabaketan piztu zen elkarrenganako lilurak Ross Robinson-BTX elkarlan artistikoan urrats berri bat ematera eraman gintuen. At The Drive-In, Slipknot, The Cure eta abar luze batekin lan egindako ekoizleak alderdi emozional eta hare espirituala lehenesten ditu, musikariaren erraiak hatz puntekin ukitu eta tripetatik egindako interpretazioen bila beti.

 

#BTX20URTE02: RICKY FALKNER @ Estudios Reno, Madril (Uztaila-Abuztua):

Estilo-ariketa honetan abesti sorta berezia prestatu genuen bigarren EP-rako, aurreiritzi guztiak alboratuta. Indie eszenan ezaguna den Ricky Falkner (Standstill, Lori Meyers, Love of Lesbian…) Bartzelonako ekoizlearen atea jotzea erabaki genuen, gure ohiko soinukera (horrek inongo zentzurik badu) beste norabaitera eramango zuelakoan. Hitz ilunkarak nagusi kantuon oinarrian.

#BTX20URTE03: BILL STEVENSON @ The Blasting Room, Fort Collins, Colorado-AEB (Iraila):

Punk rockaren historian ezinbesteko izena dugu Bill Stevenson: Black Flag, Descendents, All, Only Crime eta baita The Lemonheads taldeetan bateria jotzaile, ezaguna da azken urteotan AEB-ko punk ekoizle gisa egindako disko andanarengatik: Rise Against, NoFX, Alkaline Trio… Jason Livermore ingeniaria beti alboan duela.

EP honetan kantu laburrak eta zuzenak dira nagusi: bi minutu inguruko bala azkarrak oro har, The Blasting Room estudio mitikoan gela berean, estilo zaharrera astebetean grabatu eta nahastutakoak.

Un triple disco que contiene un total de 20 nuevas canciones: he aquí el esperado nuevo proyecto de BERRI TXARRAK en el 20º aniversario de la banda. El título podría traducirse como “El tiempo es el único polígrafo”.

Así es: el cuerpo nos pedía ofrecer algo especial en una efeméride tan significativa, con lo que una vez terminada la gira de ‘Haria’ nos encerramos en el local a componer. Fue así como comenzó un largo y duro proceso creativo, con el lema de “20 años, 20 canciones” siempre en el horizonte.

Pero, convencidos de que la música es una constante búsqueda, nos propusimos afrontar la labor de una forma diferente: los temas de este trabajo se dividirían en tres partes: tres sesiones de grabación con tres productores totalmente diferentes, tres formas de entender el rock, tres puntos de vista musicales (casi) antagónicos, que sólo confluyen en el hecho de que todos ellos buscan trabajar en pro de la canción.

Así las cosas, este 2014 hemos trabajado codo con codo con tres productores especiales para nosotros. Cronológicamente: Ross Robinson, Ricky Falkner y Bill Stevenson.

 

#BTX20URTE01: ROSS ROBINSON @ Venice, California (Marzo-Abril):

Tras la buena sintonía y admiración mutua surgida en las sesiones de grabación de ‘Haria’ (2011), decidimos dar un paso más en la relación artística Ross Robinson-BTX. El reputado productor, quien ha trabajado con bandas como At The Drive-In, Slipknot o Sepultura entre otras, valora por encima de todo el aspecto emocional e incluso espiritual de la música, para lo cual busca meter los dedos en las entrañas del músico y así conseguir esas tomas únicas hechas desde las tripas.

 

#BTX20URTE02: RICKY FALKNER @ Estudios Reno, Madrid (Julio-Agosto):

En este ejercicio de estilo decidimos escribir un puñado de canciones especiales para el segundo EP, dejando de lado todo prejuicio. Acudimos para ello al barcelonés Ricky Falkner (Standstill, Lori Meyers, Love of Lesbian…), seguros de que sería capaz llevar nuestro sonido (si es que eso es algo definible) a otros terrenos antes no transitados por Berri Txarrak. Letras de tinte oscuro sobrevuelan las canciones de este disco.

 

#BTX20URTE03: BILL STEVENSON @ The Blasting Room, Fort Collins, Colorado (Septiembre):

Bill Stevenson es un personaje indispensable en la historia del punk rock. Batería de Black Flag, Descendents, All, Only Crime e incluso los Lemonheads, es conocido por ser uno de los productores de referencia del punk rock americano, con discos clave de bandas como Rise Against, NoFX, Alkaline Trio… siempre acompañado de su inseparable ingeniero Jason Livermore.

En este EP priman las canciones cortas y directas: píldoras sonoras de dos minutos grabadas en una semana en el mítico estudio The Blasting Room al viejo estilo: todos a la vez y en una misma sala.

A triple EP featuring 20 brand new songs: here’s what BERRI TXARRAK’s most anticipated new project will bring, being “Time is The Only Polygraph” the translation of the title.

We definitely wanted to create something special to commemorate our 20th anniversary, so once ‘Haria Tour’ was over, we started writing new songs. It’s been a long creative process, always with the leitmotiv ’20 years, 20 songs’ in our minds.

We truly believe music is a non-stop search though, so this time we went further and divided those 20 songs in three parts: three recording sessions, each one with a different producer, three ways of understanding rock music, three totally different approaches that only agree on the fact that the song is what this is all about.

So, in 2014 we’ve been working with three producers who happen to be special for Berri Txarrak. In chronological order: Ross Robinson, Ricky Falkner and Bill Stevenson.

 

#BTX20URTE01: ROSS ROBINSON @ Venice, California-USA (March-April):

After the positive vibe during the recording sessions of the last album ‘Haria’ (2011), we decided to take the BTX-Ross Robinson artistic partnership to the next level. This legendary producer (At The Drive-In, Slipknot, The Cure, Sepultura…) looks for the purest emotional and spiritual aspect of music and he’ll use all his experience to get that extremely thrilling take you didn’t even know you were able to perform.

 

#BTX20URTE02: RICKY FALKNER @ Estudios Reno, Madrid-Spain (July-August):

We decided to write a bunch of special songs for the 2nd EP of this tour de force, leaving all our fears and prejudices behind, style-wise. We hired Barcelona-based indie producer Ricky Falkner (Standstill, Lori Meyers, Love of Lesbian…) for this mission. We were sure that he’d be able to face these songs with a different approach. Darkish lyrics for a pop-inspired EP.

 

#BTX20URTE03: BILL STEVENSON @ The Blasting Room, Fort Collins, CO-USA (September):

Bill Stevenson is definitely one of the names you’d think of when it comes to understanding punk rock’s history. As a musician he plays/has played the drums for Black Flag, Descendents, All, Only Crime and even The Lemonheads. In the studio, he’s undoubtedly become one of the most important producers of American punk rock biggest acts: Rise Against, NoFX… always side by side with engineer Jason Livermore.

This EP is full of short, direct songs: two-minute sonic bullets, recorded and mixed old school style at The Blasting Room in just one week (all the band playing together in the main room of the studio).
